William Shakespeare

Actor, Dramatist and Poet

William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare was the guy who practically invented drama as we know it - and still found time for a few good comedies and epic tragedies along the way.

Born in 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, he started out as an actor, but soon realised that his true genius lay behind the scenes, writing plays that explored love, power, betrayal and unforgettable monologues. From ‘Hamlet’ to ‘Romeo and Juliet’, from ‘Macbeth’ to ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’, his stories have spanned centuries, influenced pop culture and continue to be quoted by those who want to appear cultured.

He died in 1616, but his work remains so alive that even today there are crazy theories claiming that he didn't even exist. Be that as it may, one thing is certain: nobody did theatre like him.
