Homer

Epic Poet

Homero

Homer, the guy who wrote ‘The Iliad’ and ‘The Odyssey’, is that author who nobody really knows if he really existed or if he was a literary superhero created by legend.

They say he was born around the 8th century BC, but honestly, who knows? The mystery about his life is almost as epic as his works. Whether he was blind, as many believe, or whether he simply preferred to stay out of the light, nobody knows, but the fact is that he made Greek mythology sound like the best action film in history, with super-powered heroes and gods playing out the usual drama.

In ‘The Iliad’, he introduces us to the Trojan War, and in ‘The Odyssey’, the famous journey of Ulysses, who had a lot of trouble. Homer transformed the chaos of war and adventure into poetry so good that even today people are studying it and trying to understand what he meant. And between you and me, that's quite a legacy for someone we know so little about, isn't it?
