Byung-Chul Han

Philosopher, Professor and Essayist

Byung-Chul Han

Byung-Chul Han is a South Korean philosopher who has conquered the world with his sharp analyses of contemporary society. Born in Seoul in 1959, he began his academic career studying metallurgy, but soon swapped heavy metals for philosophical concepts in Germany.

There, he immersed himself in philosophy, German literature and theology, establishing himself as one of today's most influential thinkers. A professor at the Berlin University of the Arts, Han is known for his criticism of hyperconnectivity, excessive positivity and the frenetic pace of digital capitalism, themes explored in books such as ‘The Burnout Society’ and ‘Psychopolitics’.

With a direct and provocative style, he makes us rethink the way we live (or survive) in the modern world.
